Leicestershire terminates agreement with Will Pucovski due to repeated concussion.

Leicestershire has terminated their contract with Will Pucovski after the Australian player suffered another concussion. The 26-year-old was scheduled to play for the Foxes in the first five rounds of the County Championship, but will now prioritize his recovery from a recent blow to the head during Victoria’s Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania. Pucovski, who was previously considered a top Test prospect for Australia, has experienced multiple concussions throughout his career.

Unfortunately, the Leicestershire director of cricket, Claude Henderson, expressed disappointment at the loss of Will due to his health. As we near the beginning of the English season, it has been collectively decided to give him the needed time to heal. We extend our well wishes to Will as he continues to recover in Australia.

Our team responsible for hiring new members has acknowledged the changing circumstances and has implemented strategies to ensure our team is well-prepared for the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, Darren Gough has resigned from his position as managing director of cricket for Yorkshire. He was chosen for the role in December 2021 after the sport was shaken by allegations of racism. Gough expressed his gratefulness for the opportunity to work for the club he grew up supporting for the past two seasons.

“In the face of a difficult situation, we have dedicated ourselves to stabilizing our operations and bolstering our cricket department, with the goal of reclaiming our position among the elite teams in English cricket.”

Yorkshire stated that they will carefully evaluate the optimal structure for the club before selecting a replacement.
