Tadej Pogacar claims victory in last stage, solidifying dominant performance at Volta a Catalunya.

Tadej Pogacar secured his dominance in this year’s Volta a Catalunya by winning a total of four stages in the seven-stage race, including a sprint finish.

The Slovenian cyclist dominated the Volta race and maintained his lead in the final stage in Barcelona. He left his competitors behind in a smaller group, securing his overall win with a three-minute and 41-second lead over Mikel Landa (Soudal Quick-Step). Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) finished third, five minutes and three seconds behind.

French cyclist Dorian Godon made a strong attempt to overtake the rider from the UAE Team Emirates, but ultimately had to settle for second place. Fellow countryman Guillaume Martin took third. Pogacar’s impressive performance not only earned him the top spot in the general classification, but also the points and mountains jerseys.

Pogacar commented that João Almeida led the group at a strong pace during the climb, resulting in a small group at the front. He acknowledged Almeida’s impressive attack on the final ascent and expressed his disappointment that he couldn’t reach the finish line. However, Pogacar is happy to have achieved the win.

In an intense final sprint at the Gent-Wevelgem race in Belgium, Mads Pedersen emerged victorious over Mathieu van der Poel. The two cyclists fought neck and neck towards the finish line, but Pedersen strategically took the lead and managed to resist Van der Poel’s determined efforts in a thrilling finish.
