“I am uncertain if I am insured.” Ellyse Perry breaks a car window with a powerful hit over the boundary in the WPL.

Ellyse Perry powerfully scored a half-century leading to Royal Challengers Bangalore’s victory over UP Warriorz by 23 runs in the Women’s Premier League. The Australian excites fans in Bengaluru with a quick 37-ball 58 runs, including four sixes. One of her powerful shots even shattered the rear window of a sponsor’s car, which was positioned on a stage outside the boundary.

After being stumped by Sophie Molineux, Warriorz captain Alyssa Healy quickly scored a half-century, but it was not enough to sustain UP’s pursuit of victory. As a result, RCB now has six points and is tied with last year’s finalists Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, and is two points ahead of UP. This match was RCB’s last one in front of their home crowd before the location shifts to Delhi.

“I have never played in a more incredible atmosphere in my entire career,” said Perry. “I had a wonderful opportunity to partner with Smriti Mandhana, and it was satisfying to end the game with some good shots.”

After breaking the car window, she joked, saying: “I was a little worried. I’m not sure if my insurance will cover me here. So I might be in some trouble there.”

Healy’s decision to have RCB bat first did not have the intended result, as Mandhana and Sabbhineni Meghana quickly scored 57 runs in the first 32 balls. Meghana was then caught out for 28 runs off 21 balls. This brought Perry onto the field, and she played a supporting role to Mandhana, as the duo added 95 runs in 64 balls.

After Mandhana was finally dismissed for 80 runs off 50 balls, Perry began to play more aggressively. She had already hit Grace Harris (0-25) for a six, and then proceeded to hit two consecutive sixes off Rajeshwari Gayakwad. She then struck Deepti Sharma’s ball into the sponsor’s car at deep mid-wicket.

Perry was ultimately eliminated in the final over, snagged by Sophie Ecclestone in the outfield as RCB achieved a formidable score of 198-3.

After Healy completed a maiden over in the first round, it appeared that the player from Queensland, who had failed to catch Mandhana on 29, was headed for a terrible night. However, she then began to perform more accurately.

In the following 31 deliveries, Healy, who seemed motivated by a disputed DRS LBW decision made by Georgia Wareham (2-38) against Chamari Athapaththu, hit 55 runs, including three sixes. However, when the score reached 113-4, Molineux (2-29) outsmarted her with a deceptive delivery and Healy was then out stumped.

Grace Harris was dismissed early after being caught out for five runs. However, Sharma (33) and Poonam Khemnar kept the team’s hopes alive for some time. Ultimately, Warriorz fell short and ended with a total of 175-8, with Molineux taking the wicket of Khemnar on the final ball.
