TV tonight: it’s festival time with the Streets, the Prodigy and the Pretenders

Isle of Wight Festival 2024

7pm, Sky Arts
Festival season is here – but with the likelihood of it being a washout year for many events, it might be best to stay at home and watch the highlights on TV. The Isle of Wight’s all-night run has a (very male-heavy) lineup including the Streets, the Darkness, the Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys, Green Day and the Pretenders. Hollie Richardson

Gardeners’ World

8pm, BBC Two
In the absence of a British summer, Frances Tophill explores a transformed walled garden at Powderham Castle in Devon, and plants fruit trees and beans. Toby Buckland, meanwhile, takes in the “quintessentially English” gardens at Wollerton Old Hall in Shropshire. Ali Catterall

Dispatches: Rubbish Tip Britain

8pm, Channel 4
A lucrative and dangerous world of waste crime is on the rise in the UK, according to this exposé. It speaks to insiders and accesses alarming new figures to find out about everything from illegal fly-tipping to the banned waste being dumped for years in major landfill sites. HR

Paranormal: The Village That Saw Aliens

9pm, BBC Three
Foreboding electronica is everywhere as presenter Sian Eleri continues to tour rural Wales on the trail of the truth behind a 1970s alien encounter. She is hunting down sightings of mysterious orbs of light. Might they be plasma? What even is that? And will she ever get to the truth? Probably not. Alexi Duggins

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

9pm, Sky Max
After being separated for years, traumatised parents Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) finally get some proper alone time to have a lacerating heart-to-heart – they just had to bail out of a crashing helicopter to do it. The result is a cathartic two-hander, written by Gurira, that justifies this entire spin-off. Graeme Virtue

The Nevermets

10pm, Channel 4
The cringe-inducing (yet strangely addictive) reality series in which long-distance couples finally meet continues with thirtysomething Matt visiting his virtual girlfriend of three years, Maria. Meanwhile, will Jgoy be able to visit Sarah in the United Kingdom? HR
