During a protest march, demonstrators battled with police officers. In response to the unrest, labor groups declared a 24-hour countrywide strike, which aligned with the anniversary of a fatal train accident in Tempi that resulted in the loss of 57 lives. The unions are demanding solutions for labor and pension concerns, wage hikes, the establishment of collective labor contracts, and measures to combat high prices.
