“After 15 years of representing England, Danny Care has decided to retire from international rugby. He feels that the timing is perfect for this decision.”

Danny Care, the scrum-half for Harlequins, has officially ended his international rugby career after earning 101 caps in 15 years with the England team.

The 37-year-old from Leeds, who holds the record for 369 appearances for Quins, participated in all five of England’s matches in this year’s Six Nations tournament. He also reached his 100th cap in the team’s 23-22 victory against Ireland.

“I could hardly believe it when I got the chance to represent England for the first time. And now, having had the opportunity over 100 times, it still feels like a dream come true.”

After much contemplation over the past few months, my team and I have come to the decision to retire from playing international rugby.

“Over the past year, being a part of the England team has been an immensely enjoyable experience for me, creating special moments that my loved ones and I will always hold dear.”

Care, whose final international appearance came on 16 March in the epic defeat to France in Lyon, is just the sixth player to win 100 caps for the England men’s team.
