The Peregrine 1 lander, equipped with Nasa’s scientific instruments, has been launched into space on the Vulcan Centaur rocket from Cape Canaveral. Shortly after separating from the rocket, Astrobotic mission control received a signal from the lander. It will now enter a highly elliptical orbit to reach its intended destination. Peregrine is scheduled to touch down on February 23 and will collect valuable data on the lunar surface in preparation for upcoming human missions.
