On the final leg of their tour, the Strawbridges steer the trusty 1950s Renault into the volcanic region of the Auvergne, taking in the imposing black Cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand and the pocket-knife pièce de résistance of Thiers, before retreating to the fireside of a traditional farmhouse. drama about detective Charlie Hudson (John Reardon) and his partner-in-crime-solving Rex the German shepherd (Diesel vom Burgimwald, who has his own Instagram account) reaches the halfway point of series six in the UK. In the first episode of a double bill, Rex goes missing while investigating the theft of a champion horse. HR

Luke Rollason (the star of Disney’s Extraordinary) plays Geoffrey in this pleasing comedy short. He’s an anxious chap who, after a huge social media faux pas, decides to ditch the smartphone and live a quieter life. Except, well, is it even possible to do that these days? A dating event proves the ultimate test. HR
Shetland: Scotland’s Wondrous Isles
9pm, Channel 5
Another trip to the remote and beautiful islands, Britain’s northernmost archipelago, which is closer to the Arctic Circle than it is to London. We drop in on a rowing competition, with teams competing in Shetland’s historic, clinker-built yoal boats, witness the birth of a cow’s first calf, and look at Shetland’s rich knitting heritage. Eileen Atkins Remembers: She Fell Among Thieves

The fabulous Eileen Atkins reflects on her role as glamorous villain Vanity Fair in Tom Sharpe’s 1978 adaptation of the tongue-in-cheek murder mystery. A trip through the world of foul play in 1920s France is fondly remembered, leading into a screening of the drama itself. Hannah Verdier

Bonnie and Clyde, 10.30pm, BBC Two
A precursor of the New Hollywood movie-making revolution that kicked off with Easy Rider, Arthur Penn’s 1967 road movie is in love with the French New Wave – to the extent that Faye Dunaway’s Bonnie Parker wears a beret. It’s a freewheeling caper, with Warren Beatty’s Clyde Barrow luring Parker into a life of bank-robbing and cop-evading alongside a ragtag gang including Gene Hackman as Clyde’s brother Buck and an Oscar-winning Estelle Parsons as Buck’s wife Blanche. Dunaway and Beatty are a fantastically charismatic couple in a hugely influential picture. Simone Wardell
