This week’s wildlife highlights – captured in photos: adorable kiwi hatchlings, a burrowing mole in water, and a fortunate duck.

Recently, Finja, a lynx, excitedly emerged from her transport box in Germany’s Black Forest. After growing up in a game reserve without any human interaction, she now has an important task ahead of her: there is a scarcity of female lynx in the area, with the majority being male. According to Johannes Enssle, a conservationist, Finja’s name symbolizes her beauty and intelligence and is a perfect fit for the young lynx who will undoubtedly capture the attention of the cows in the state. In the future, more female lynx will be released in Baden-Württemberg with hopes of increasing the population.
