Amidst a setting of lifeless sunken trees, a flock of flamingos, predominantly of the lesser species Phoeniconaias minor, takes respite as gusts of wind stir up dust along the banks of Lake Nakuru. The atmosphere evokes a sense of unease, reminiscent of the recent significant rises in water levels in the lakes of the African rift valley, posing a threat to livelihoods and impacting the local wildlife.
