Rassie Erasmus is currently hospitalized due to chemical burns sustained in a freak accident.

Rassie Erasmus, the director of rugby for South Africa, was hospitalized due to a bizarre incident resulting in chemical burns. However, he is anticipated to return to his duties next month. Erasmus, who played a crucial role in leading the Springboks to consecutive Rugby World Cup victories, has received necessary medical care and is not facing any serious consequences.

“South African Rugby has announced that Rassie Erasmus is currently in the process of recuperating at a hospital after undergoing a medical procedure for chemical burns caused by an unexpected incident involving a potent detergent product. Despite this, Erasmus is in overall good health and anticipates being able to resume his duties within a few weeks.”

Erasmus has resumed his role as head coach and director for the next cycle leading up to the 2027 World Cup in Australia. Following his departure for Leinster after the 2020 victory in France, Jacques Nienaber left the position vacant. Erasmus previously served as coach and director of rugby during the Boks’ successful campaign in Japan in 2019.
